Oiartzun, San Sebastian, Spain Review + Pics 06.24.2009

  Thursday 02 July 2009 - 10:49:31 | red UFO

This is my third and final chapter of my Summer Korn Trip 2009. Last stop: San Sebastian...and what a day!
The show was supposed to happen at "Polideportivo Anoeta" which is a place near the stadium of the local soccer club. I arrived there around 5h30 p.m, totally relaxed, when I saw a poster that said the venue for the concert has changed! I was like "WTF?"...I didn't know anything about it and wasnt happy at all! So,I asked a man that was there why did they changed the venue for the show and he said it was because of poor ticket sales. The show was now at a city called Oiartzun,15/20 mins away from San Sebastian. Luckily, I rented a car the day before, or else it was impossible for me to get there.Called my girlfiend to pick me up and travelled to this Oiartzun city. After 1 hour of searching and trying to get there we finally arrived at the right place. The venue for the show was a small club called "Itzela" that helds like 900/1.000 people at the most. After a bit of stress I was happy to be,finally, at the right place.Picked my M&G pass and entered.Once again, Breed 77 and Killswitch Engage were the opening bands, saw both bands from the merch booth, waiting for Sebastien. After a while he picked me up and I was the only one at the M&G.I went to the backstage zone where Korn hanged out...Fieldy was text messaging, Loc was laid back with his MacBook and Jonathan was trying to say some words in german,it was great to see.Fieldog was the first to come, he was in a good mood and I asked him how was the Chi project song doing,he said Adam from KSE was just playing some stuff for it a few mins ago.I said I was curious to hear his guitar style on Stillwell.Jonathan was next. I asked if he would take a pic with me, since I was the only one there, and he said yes, so Sebastien took us a pic. Ray was once again extremely kind and he remembered me from the previous shows. Finally, Munk came. When he entered he said:"Hey,I remember you from the other day" and offered me his guitar pick which was pretty cool! It was the end of the M&G and I was happy. The Korn show started half an hour later, more or less. The stage was pretty small, so the concert was very intimate and also powerful. Jonathan wear a Cannibal Corpse shirt and trousers instead of the usual kilt. They didn't play Thoughtless at this show, though.

Setlist:

1- Right Now
2- Chi
3- Did My Time
4- Falling Away From me
5- Coming Undone/We Will Rock You
6- Bagpipes
7- Helmet In The Bush
8- Here To Stay
9- Fake/One
10-Freak On A Leash
11-Y'all Want A Single
12-Somebody Someone
13-Blind
14-Got The Life
15- Another Brick In The Wall

At the end of the show I also grabbed the paper with the setlist which is now on my bedroom wall

And this was my Summer Korn Trip 2009 journey.

Copenhagen, Denmark 1st July - Review

  Thursday 02 July 2009 - 08:30:41 | red UFO

Firstly, I would like to say that it's a real honor to get the permission to be posting a Korn review. Thank you very much.

Getting there
Anyway, me and my friend travelled for about 5 hours from Viborg to Copenhagen in order to watch Korn.
Last time they visited Denmark in 2008, they played in front of 3000 people at the KB Hall. This time the place was alot smaller (Vega, House of Music), and could barely fit the 1100 people who had shown up. Pretty sad to see that Korn didn't get a bigger place to perform, honestly. Maybe it wasn't quite smart to book the show right in the middle of the Roskilde festival. But whatever - It made the performance more
intimate and intense. And that was exactly how I would like a Korn show!

Scamp
The opening band was a Danish band called 'Scamp'. I didn't really know any of their work 'till the show. I had only checked out their myspace beforehand. They did a great job opening, and told the crowd alot of times that it was a real honor to open up for Korn etc. A couple of pits even opened up during their set. You guys should check out their myspace, if you like Misfits, Lamb of God, Mastodon and that kind of music.

Going nuts
30 minutes after Scamp left the stage, the lights were dimmed, and the church-intro for Right Now began. I could barely hear Zac's keyboard because of all the screaming and yelling. Then Jon yelled: "C'mon!!", and we got blown away by the loud sound. Everyone just went completely nuts. I have never experienced anything like that. The whole floor was one big fucking mosh pit. It was quite a disappointment for me to notice that they didn't play Chi. I had been looking forward to see that song live, since it's one of my all time favourite songs. However, we got alot of other great songs, like Helmet in the Bush, Y'all Want A Single, Divine and even Fake mixed up with One(!!). Now I have been checking all the setlists up to this show, and I didn't really expect that to happen. So cool. Before the bidge in Divine (fuck you, I'm fed up with you), JD smiled to Fieldly and said: "Yeah.. what are you waiting for?". Very nice.
They ended with Somebody Someone, with everyones fists in the air, and JD said good night.

KoRn @ Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium)

  Thursday 02 July 2009 - 06:20:45 | red UFO

As promised, here’s my little review of the KoRn show in the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) where KoRn was headlining the Saturday opening for Slipknot. I was kinda worried that the crowd would be very bad as it was at my last show in Nijmegen at the Sonisphere Festival (Holland) but hopefully the band got a very good reaction from the crowd. They put out an amazing show and they were really into it. The setlist was a follow (not totally sure of the order

Right Now
Did My Time
Falling Away From Me
Coming Undone / We Will Rock You
Bagpipe Intro + Helmet In The Bush
Here To Stay
Fake / One
Freak On A Leash
Somebody Someone
Blind (with fieldy joining Ray for the intro with a drum stick
Got The Life
Another Brick in The Wall

The set was supposed to last for 1h10, but I think that they played for 1h20 instead, which is always a good thing ! Not much to say about the performance itself, it was of course very energetic and the big highlights of the night were as any hardcore korn fan can imagine, the old stuff : Helmet in the Bush, Fake but also Another Brick in the wall with the epic ending and the whole screaming thing were unbelievable

Barcelona, Spain Review 06/22/2009

  Monday 29 June 2009 - 21:58:36 | KHЯIS

So,after the amazing show from Paris, I travelled over to the also beautiful city of Barcelona,in Spain.A few days passed  (went to the beach, visited some places, and so on) and the big day had come.

I went to the Razzmatazz venue (it's a big club) around 5h30 pm,waited in the line and drunk a few Cokes.

After I get in with my M&G pass I saw a bit of the two opening bands. The first one was Breed 77 and even though I'm not a great fan of theirs, the band put on a good show with that "Flamenco/Metal" style. Next was Killswitch Engage. Again,I'm not a fan of the all Metalcore scene but they are a good live band, hands down, and had a excellent crowd reaction aswell. So,after a few KSE songs, the M&G time arrived. There were 4 people there: me, my girlfriend (she went to this show with me) and two british girls. Fieldy was the first to show up.I asked him about Stillwell and he said he was just working on it and that it's coming out great. Also, told him that he should sell his book at the merch booth which he thought it was a good idea. Next one was Ray.Extremely nice and laid back,as usual.Asked him about the upcoming album and he replied with two very important words for me:"old-school" and "groovy" . Munky came next, with his good mood.Talked to him about Fear and the Nervous System and asked him about possible solos on there and he said:"yes,a little bit".We'll see...finally, Mr Jonathan Davis arrived and I told him that I really liked his concept album ideia (he doesn't know when he will start writing lyrics for the album yet).

The M&G was over and I went to the front of the audience to headbang for another awesome Korn show.Setlist was the same as Paris, the concert itself was kickass once again, the venue was packed, the crowd (less crazy than Paris) sang along to most of the songs. Korn played good aswell, only the beggining of Thoughtless was fucked up,so they started the song again (because of Munky's pedals,I think).

And this was another awesome Korn moment.

Paris, France Review 06.17.09

  Saturday 27 June 2009 - 22:01:18 | KHЯIS

This year I decided to go on a Summer Trip since Korn passed my country, Portugal, on this tour. The first stop was at the lovely Paris.

I arrived at Le Bataclan around 5pm and there was a little line of Korn fans in there already. I saw Shane, Zac and Ray chilling at the venue's cafe. Jonathan was there a little later also. After a couple of hours waiting in the line,I entered at the small but cool Bataclan, got my Meet and Greet passes at the box office, gave a little walk and bought the Alone I Play CD/DVD at the merchandise booth. I met TrAsH from KS and a couple of his friends, they were pretty cool and nice to me. Saw Dennis aka bakersfield passing by but he was too far away.

The M&G started with a bit of delay so it kinda sucked because it was vey rushed. When Jonathan entered in the room,Loc made a comment to him about my shirt and said:"look at that old-school shirt of you" and Jonathan said "God,i'm old now". It was funny. He signed everyone's stuff with a rush, not even looking up.I was the only one who asked him a question (about his solo album). He said the album is coming along and that will be finished after the Korn tour, shook my hand and left. After that, Sebastian said the show had to start in 10 mins so no pics with Munky or Fieldy (Ray didn't show up) which was a bummer. TrAsH asked Munky if he would take a group pic and he did,so I took it.He managed to take a pic with Munk at the end. Fieldy appeared very fast too because he had to be "ready to rock out" as he said. So,the M&G was over. A few mins passed and the Korn show started and damn...it was the most intense Korn show I've ever been to. The sold out crowd was totally crazy, moshing, jumping and crowd surfing every minute. I was at the front and tried to survive the whole show! The heat was immense...I never sweat like that in my entire life,at the end of the show it looked like I had fallen into a  swimming pool (no joke). The band was sweating alot too,Jonathan made a comment of that incredible heat aswell. The show was intense and I loved hearing songs like Chi,Fake and Helmet In The Bush live.

When the show was over I saw TrAsH again, went along with his friends near the Korn bus and  waited for the guys to come out. But, after a while I left to my hostel because I was completely exausthed.

It was an unforgetable experience.

Korn Tour Dates for 2009

[Submitted by tRntblemassacRe]

[Note from Tim]: The show in Bridgeview, IL (at Toyota Park) has been confirmed. Tickets are only $10!!! And they go on sale this Saturday. If you're in the area, there is NO excuse. $10 for a GA ticket! Lucky!

[Note from kf02]: Modlife has removed the date for 9/25 at the Grange Fairgrounds in Center Hall, PA. Due to korn.com's past history it means a probable cancellation. The date was strange to begin with considering it was more than a month after the other dates. If true, this would be the 3RD time Korn has canceled on Pittsburgh or Scranton in the last 2 years. Since korn.com will most likely say nothing, I apologize in advance to the handful of faithfuls who planned on attending.

Madrid Review 23.06.2009

  Wednesday 24 June 2009 - 05:51:09 | MazeHaze

How should I start? Well it all began when I had to wake up at 3.45am to go to the airport to get to Madrid in my 5 euros flight (+10 euros credit card tax ). when I got to the airport saw 2 other guys wearing korn t-shirts. brave people these portuguese. I went to meet Pedro Paiva (another kspacer) and after being in Madrid we started to get along with the other 2. the first adventure was finding La Riviera, since everyone we asked had a different aproach. After a couple of hours we found it and just droped dead in a near park. fuck, it was hot. the rest of the day we just drink some cañas (beers) and watched some pretty (omfg realy pretty) girls that were passing by. Anyway.. Spanish organization sucks.. the ticket office opened very late.. the doors were about to open when they decided to start selling tickets.. oh well.. while we were wainting, just the 4 of us, munky went out from a back door.. he waved at us and on his way back we shouted that we were from portugal and he came to meet us.. perfect timing for the first pic with munky.. After that, we got our tickets and our MandG passes. we stick them in our shirts and just waited for someone in front of the merch booth. then came Sebastien and the party was about to start. we went backstage and as you can see in the pics, Fieldy was not in a good mood.. at least he was not as friendly as the others.. Ray is a fucking awesome guy.. Munky the same, and Jon just signed some stuff with Loc pushing him away all the time.. oh well... got to know them.. back to La Riviera.. THE SHOW WAS AMAZING.. They were awesome.. Jonathan and Fieldy seemed sort of tired in some songs... but still... Ray, as usual, did an amazing job.. dont remember the set list, but i'm sure someone will post it :D Spanish crowd was awesome.. Never stoped jumping and singing even louder than Jon.. got tears in my eyes now.. Best show i've seen of Korn. After the show, time to run to the airport, cause we had our flight at 5.50am and i had to work at 7.. as i am now.. how sad am i?
